Globe Media Excellence Awards 2016

It’s that time of the year again when Globe Telecom seeks for those who excel in broadcast, print and digital media. Globe Media Excellence Awards was launched in Cebu and Davao in 2012 to recognize the media practitioners who have excelled in their own fields. This is in line with Globe’s advocacy of supporting press freedom and media excellence.

In 2015, Globe Media Excellence Award expanded its coverage to Bacolod and Iloilo in Visayas and General Santos, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga in Mindanao.

This year, GMEA is expected to become bigger, better and grander to celebrate their fifth year milestone year. New award categories were also added to recognize the best of the best in each field.

Here are the categories for this year and the corresponding prizes:

PRINT

Reporter of the Year for Print
Reporter: Php30,000 and trophy
Editor: Php10,000 and plaque

Columnist of the Year
Columnist: Php20,000 and trophy

Photojournalist of the Year
Photojournalist: Php15,000 and trophy

Explanatory/Investigative Story of the Year for Print
Reporter: Php30,000 and trophy
Editor: Php10,000 and plaque

BROADCAST

Reporter of the Year for Radio

Reporter of the Year for Television

Please be reminded of the following:

• Entries must delve on any or a combination of the four (4) Sustainability Focus Areas: care for the environment, innate care for people, positive societal impact, and digital nation.
• Entries must be aired/published/posted within the search period.
• Search period for Visayas: May 2015 to April 2016
• Translations of entries in local dialects are not required.
• Attachments for social impact are optional. However, a major consideration shall be given to those who can present documented proofs. This may include screenshots of social media discussions and shares; references to subsequent reports and commentaries (print, radio, and blogs) arising from the entry; actions by government officials, civil society, and/or ordinary citizens; among other proofs of social impact.
• Entrants are not allowed to submit the same entry to different categories.
• Deadline on submission of entries is on May 15, 2016.

Winners will be awarded on September 22, 2016 for Visayas and November 24, 2016 for Mindanao.
