In this blog post I will be listing down the 10 locations where the Kita Kita movie was shot.

I recently saw Kita Kita, a movie by Spring Films which was shot in Sapporo, Japan. It showcases not only the “kilig” story of Lea (played by Alessandra de Rossi) and Tonyo (played by Empoy), but also the beautiful city of Sapporo, Japan. The movie was shot during summer season which showed a different view of Sapporo which is usually covered in snow.

1. Odori Park

Odori Park is located in the heart of Sapporo dividing the city into north and south. The park also serves as the main site for the Sapporo Snow Festival which is being held every February. Odori Park also gives a nice view of the Sapporo TV Tower.

2. Sapporo TV Tower

Sapporo TV Tower is located at the eastern end of Odori Park. The tower houses an observation deck which gives a view of the park and the city. At night, the Sapporo TV Tower is illuminated.

3. Sapporo Clock Tower

Built in 1878, the Sapporo Clock Tower has become a symbol of Sapporo. Today, the clock tower serves a museum.

4. Mount Moiwa

Located southwest of central Sapporo, Mount Moiwa is a popular spot for an overlooking view of the city. With its elevation, the observation deck at its summit gives visitors an amazing view of the city especially after sunset when the city is about to light up.

The observation deck of Mount Moiwa also features a “Bell of Happiness” where you can say a prayer and ring the bell.

Mount Moiwa can be accessed through the Mount Moiway Ropeway.

5. Otaru Canal

Otaru Canal used to be part of Otaru City’s busy port. The canal became obsolete when dock modernization was introduced in the city. Today, Otaru Canal serves as the main site for the city’s Snow Light Path Festival. During summer, tourist can cruise along the canal by renting a boat.

Otaru Canal is actually in Otaru City located north-west of Sapporo.

6. Otaru Music Box Museum

Otaru Music Box Museum is composed of multiple building spread across Ironai-dori area in Otaru. The museum features a total of 25,000 music boxes on display, and a wide variety of music boxes on sale.

7. Zerubu Hill

Zerubu Hill is one of the amazing flower fields in Hokkaido. This flower field showcases lavenders, sunflowers, multi-hued geraniums, marigolds and other flowers. The Zerubu Hill is located north-east of Sapporo.

8. Hidamari Glass Pyramid in Moerenuma Park

Hidamari Glass Pyramid is the biggest symbol of Moerenuma Park. It is a 3 floor structure that features a restaurant, gallery and a museum shop.

9. Sapporo’s Fushimi Inari

Fushimi Inari is a Shinto shrine similar to the one in Kyoto. The place is known for its line of torii gates that are red in color.

10. Mount Asahi-dake

Mount Asahi-dake is the highest mountain in Hokkaido, standing tall at 2290 meters. It is located in Daisetsuzan National Park. The national park is located north-east of Sapporo.

Watching the movie Kita Kita was very timely because I will be traveling to Sapporo, Japan next year. This travel plan is what inspired me to come up with this blog post.

Kita Kita is such a feel good movie. I caught my self smiling almost all through out the film. The film teaches us that sometimes what the eyes can’t see, the heart feels. Kita Kita is still showing nationwide. Let’s support our local film industry by watching these kind of movies.
